Exit programme for left-wing extremists
The Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz (BfV) wishes to reach people who have come under the influence of left-wing extremist groups and want to cut their ties with them but are not able to do so by their own efforts.
Services offered by BfV
With its exit programme, BfV encourages people to leave the left-wing extremist scene, confirms them in their decision and supports them in any further steps required to break away from the left-wing extremist and especially from the violence-prone circles they have moved in.
Furthermore, the exit programme provides advice to the family and friends of members of the left-wing extremist scene.
Contact
If you wish to leave the scene, please do not hesitate to contact our hotline, which is available 24/7, or to send us an e-mail:

Anyone who uses one of the above options to contact the exit programme can be assured that BfV will treat their case with utmost confidentiality.
Hands-on support
The exit programme offers those seeking help a large variety of individual support measures, all of which are focused on the idea of helping people help themselves. This means that those concerned have to be willing to really leave the left-wing extremist scene through the programme.
The type of support provided always takes into account what is needed in each individual case. The measures taken by BfV – carried out in cooperation, across Germany, with governmental and non-governmental entities offering help – include:
- help in finding a job or a place to live
- help in finding schemes to obtain educational or professional qualifications
- advisory services; establishment of contacts to authorities, e.g. judicial authorities, and to employers
- help in finding external assistance, e.g. in case of alcohol or drug problems or excessive debts
